Re: Rowing & Diversity Continued....
After another season of racing and seeing the various teams out there I would not say increasing diversity has been a big development in our sport. I know this is an area my own club struggles to succeed in. The previous thread on this issue was locked as it went off on a tangent but hoping some go...

Re: Coastal Rowing
I'm just worried you feel cucked: "An official came around our club and recruited some juniors to try it with the promise that it'll be an olympic sport." Another way to look at it would be they saw it as more promising than what you had to offer. wwwhhiiiiifffff... strike three. Bi*** Sp...

Re: Coastal Rowing
Your opinion is of no consequence to anyone, but you do seem to be very angry about the beach sprints. Whose feewings are huhwt? Go eat some fiber before you blow out your O-ring. my opinion seems to be the most important thing in your life, you eager dumpling, you! I'd be flattered if I wasn't cer...

Re: Coastal Rowing
coastal or beach sprints? There's a lot of interest in off shore rowing and it thrives quite nicely in a lot of places, ta hell with the Olys. It's the beach that's the bi***. Go race a surfski! 'memba the 500m dash at Nationals, ya flat water fumble jockey??? Shuffle off that mortal coil anytime y...

Re: Coastal Rowing
Coastal rowing is rowing's version of an obstacle course compared to a mile run. It's not easy, and it might be interesting, but it's somewhat contrived. I don't see a lot of organic interest in coastal rowing. coastal or beach sprints? There's a lot of interest in off shore rowing and it thrives q...

Re: Coastal Rowing
beach sprints are a stupid activity, graceless and inert. It's a soulless imitation of lifeguard trials which exhibit athletic skills that surf lifeguards employ to save lives on their daily shift. It's tools tolerate waves at best until they are big enough to bodysurf, then they're hopeless. There'...

Re: PAC 12 Departures. Consequences for Men's Rowing?
Here is my speculation regarding how this COULD impact men's collegiate rowing - summary: the death of the Pac-12 will mean consistent Olympic medals for the US men. Step 1: Cal Athletics is in crazy bad financial shape ( https://www.outkick.com/cal-stanford-acc-tv-media-deal-revenue-share-californ...

Re: BC Sport teams suspended after hazing
Didn’t intend to suggest anything was going on with the BC rowing team. Wondering how common this may be in rowing generally. this seems to be more prevalent in swim programs in last couple decades. When my daughter swam in college years ago, she worked against the grain to try to stop the humillat...

Re: PAC 12 Departures. Consequences for Men's Rowing?
With UCLA and USC club teams gone next year do the other clubs even show up to the PAC12 men's regatta next year? And if they don't, does a PAC12 straight final of 4 crews look awkward? Will the conference even choose to maintain the event? club participation at Pac12s has long been spotty. None sh...

snip What makes coaching at the club level so interesting, is the multitude of challenges on one side and the impact we as coaches have on the students - for most of them it's a life changing experience. I think the challenges of dealing with (physically) mature, recruited athletes - already close ...

Re: San Diego State Athletes in Title IX fight
APR has been a thing for a while, but usually isn't relevant to rowing. As I understand it, it is hurt when athlete's fail to matriculate in their degrees. Basically if kids pass their classes, your score is good. If your score falls too low there's penalties. Rowers are generally good in school so...

Re: San Diego State Athletes in Title IX fight
https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/34071621/a-coxswain-courts-course-title-ix-compliance I can see where State can make a case for compliance, there are 11 women's sports to 6 men's, 5 of the sports offset each other in numbers and I'm sure scholarships, the other 5 women's sports get d...
