It’s really a simple fix, just award the podiums and medals to those in the region. Those outside of the region who podium get a special medal of no color or placement

Regionals are where kids get a chance to medal, knowing that at nationals many of them will not have a chance to repeat that feat due to the highly competitive mix. So in a crappy Covid situation some kids got a dose of more crap. It is what it is and caps off a year of many disappointments.

As far as I am aware, nobody forced their regatta to open entries to out-of-region clubs.

Nobody suggested they were forced to open regattas to outside folks.Long'n Strong wrote:As far as I am aware, nobody forced their regatta to open entries to out-of-region clubs.

Regionals are a USRowing event. So, it was the NGB that made the decision. Local LOCs and teams in the region weren't involved in the decision. Only restriction to outside teams was where county or state guidelines superseded and wouldn't allow them in.

Just like when Canadians & Mexicans & others have raced at USRowing national events in the past.

Exactly the case here at SE Regionals where ORRA was contracted to prepare the site, provide volunteers and such. ORRA did a lot of things for USRowing that we didn't do for Dogwood.crewu wrote:Regionals are a USRowing event. So, it was the NGB that made the decision.
