I wonder if she could compete as an "Olympic Athlete" like the Russians do. Presumably it's not her fault.

Re: Rowing Article and Response
Seems like a pretty reasonable article in Rowing. Critiquing USRowing when there is a perception of difficulty definitely falls under their job description and no they aren't obligated to offer solutions, it's a story. Response to me is sad and embarrassing: "lining his pockets", "hur...

The Germans seem like they are making even the most dysfunctional national federations around the world look good. What a mess!

Re: Post-Tokyo Coaching Carousal
Bit of a leap to say Rowing Canada is a disgraceful organisation. US Republican party, British Tories, Ulster Unionists and Newcastle United Football Club maybe but RC? Let's hear the full story (Yeah I know, one never hears the full story) first before we pass judgement. It does seem however to (c...

Re: Post-Tokyo Coaching Carousal
Lawsuits are pending on the treatment of athletes and not acting quickly enough Haven't heard anything but popular guess is that he was indirectly caught up in the scandal with Dave Thompson. Pure hearsay but not sure there is much else that makes sense anyway. My impression from people who know wh...

Michelle Darvill to NED , that stings for Canada No official word yet. If true, so much for Canadian coaches for Canadians. Official word is out now: https://roeien.nl/toproeien/michelle-darvill-nieuwe-coach-bij-teamnl-roeien/ Did you listen to the Town Hall? It sure sounded like she was coming bac...

Re: Thomas Keller medal
Karsten will get it. Oldest and more World Championships Medals (16 including 6 golds) than other two combined.
You'd think the other two would be locks although there is one triple gold medalist who never got it.

Re: Long Beach 2028 Olympics
Probably 1500 closer to 2k. Interesting coincidence Women's 1x fastest 2km time is at 5:20 1500m pace--about the same as the Men's 8+ world's fastest 2k time. So the differences between boat classes about the same as the difference between distances. I also find it funny coincidence that the last LA...

Re: Modern Pentathlon drops horse riding
Certainly makes it about 1,000,000 times more accessible but probably time to go if it can't maintain its original format. The tedious swimming with athletes of different levels, unwatchable fencing (what just happened?) combined with laser gun and slow running not exactly a spectator even otherwise...

Interesting coincidence that the last time the Olympics were not 2000m was also Los Angeles, where women's events were only 1000m.

Re: Post-Tokyo Coaching Carousal
Sounds like Rowing Canada going to have some turnover with Iain Brambell gone with coaches Dick Tonks and Terry Paul. Hopefully they can figure out a way to keep Michelle Darville in the fold.

Re: 2021 International entries
Pulled the plug on my entry yesterday. Was on the fence after tearing a shoulder tendon a few weeks ago. Continuing border restrictions on Canada-US travel for non-US citizens was nail in the coffin #2. Final strike was being told by a few of the usual rental sources that they were 'sold out'. Tran...

Re: Post-Tokyo Coaching Carousal
I'm talking about the actual people, not the histories of the countries. Canada is a very left leaning, progressive country. Despite what it may seem like from the outside looking in the majority of the NZ population is very conservative. You won't find a lot of she/her's in NZ. You could tell from...

Michelle Darville should be given the keys to do whatever she wants for the next 20 years or so.Andre wrote:Confirmation that Dick Tonks contract with Rowing Canada has not been renewed. Also hearing that Terry Paul is out as well and Michelle Darville is not confirmed to be coming back to RCA.
