Re: RowAmerica
and students, are we talking high school or Uni? Most clubs now sign waivers for adults but a waiver signed by a parent on behalf of a minor is not worth the paper it's written on in defence if the club is held to be negligent. For minors you have a duty of care which has to be exercised, we all und...

Re: GoPro Mounts
The suction cups are very good but only as good as the surface you put them on. If it's not a very flat area then use in conjunction with a self adhesive mount and a lanyard just in case. You can use a long lanyard to attach to a piece of boat that does not have paint, rudder bar, footplate etc.

Re: Arm Shake during drive
Can't help but would like to know the answer as I have a similar issue when sculling, just the right arm (Port scull), my blade wobbles through the drive, not a lot but very noticeable. It's the same what ever boat or oars I use although some boats it doesn't seem so pronounced. Is it something to d...

Re: US Rowing Basic Membership Admin Fee
Many schools in the UK get around this by simply not being members of "British Rowing" and instead hold a series of private match races outside of British Rowing control.

Re: Two World Rowing presentations, NZ and CAN
Looking at Donaldsons presentation I'm more impressed with the overall set up and strategy than the technical content. NZ are a real world force now and have been kicking Aussie butts for some time, something the Aussies are not happy with. As a response the Aussies have a plan to put sculling boats...

Bill Colley built a triple in wood about 10 years ago (could be longer now)
I've seen a Randan in the UK on the Thames, can't imagine how odd it would be to row.

Re: Which Open Water Boat?
Maas Aero, for it's size it is a very fast open water boat that will handle much more than most open water rowers can. Get one with a bailer as they are not a dry boat in the rough and also the new wing rigger they have might be worth looking at. I've rowed Aeros a lot in all sorts of conditions (al...

Re: Drehet Alpha sculls
OK so a few more outings and a lot of stops to fiddle with the length adjustment and inboard outboard and I seem to have settled on 285cm long and 87.5 inboard. I'm 55 and 175lbs, don't scull as much as I would like so not as fit as rowingrick but do these measurements seem in the ball park. As with...

Re: Drehet Alpha sculls
Thanks Rowingrick, I think so far my only concern is the little locking collar thing for the toolfree collar, it seems a bit flimsy but it is easy to unclip and lock back again. Oar quality is superb, they really made a nice job of these. I'm going to play around with the settings, interesting that ...

Drehet Alpha sculls
I've invested in a pair of Dreher Alphas and so far I'm very pleased with them. My go to oars were my Croker S2 soft slicks, I'm a Masters rower and like the softer shaft. The Alphas feel much more in contact with the water all the way through the stroke and they just feel right to me, plus they loo...

Re: rowing in or around myrtle beach
Come on Man, get real, you are close to a beach. Get yourself a Maas Aero or similar and have some fun on the sea. Less gunfire that's for sure and a more 3D experience

Re: CRI Boat Purchase
I hear they are replacing their entire racing fleet. There are always boats on the water there, who knows how many rowing hours are clocked up at CRI a year but it must be hard on the boats. I guess my question to Andre would be, if you were spending $1.5million to get 73 boats for an organisation l...
