Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship To Be Held At Eastern Sprints This Year
PRINCETON, N.J. – The 2023 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship will be located at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., joining the EARC Sprints Regatta on Sunday, May 14, the Ivy League and EARC announced this morning.
“We are incredibly appreciative to the EARC, and in particular Gary Caldwell and Patrick Diggins, for welcoming our championship to the EARC Sprints this year,” Ivy League Executive Director Robin Harris said.
“The league is excited to add to an already competitive atmosphere and to showcase our talented student-athletes throughout the day. I also want to extend my thanks to our coaches and administrators for their communication and collaboration to determine a site in a very narrow window.”
Consistently one of the top rowing leagues in the country with a long history of national success, the Ivy League is primed to follow up on a season in which four Ivies finished in the top-12 at last year’s NCAA Championship.
"The intercollegiate Rowing Association is delighted to add the Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship to the Eastern Sprints in 2023,” Intercollegiate Rowing Association Commissioner Gary Caldwell said. “May 14 will feature the most competitive single day of collegiate racing on the spring racing calendar. Lake Quinsigamond will be the place to be, without question to see the absolute best in collegiate rowing!”
"We’re excited to add the Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship to our schedule of championship events this spring,” Quinsigamond Rowing Association President Patrick Diggins said. “It is a tribute to our dedicated corps of volunteers that high caliber events like the Ivy League Championship value the rowing experience and history of Lake Quinsigamond.”
The change comes after the league was notified that its traditional championship site — Cooper River Park — is not available this year due to another regatta.

Don't forget the part where they were being complete prats to the other displaced Cooperfugees.

Odd that the prior official date of women's sprints was 4/30 as per https://irarowing.com/affiliates/. That's quite early for a conference championship -- did they want to avoid getting clobbered by final exams? Or maybe that calendar is just wrong, not shocking.
South Jersey RC is hosting the Cooper Cup at Camden on 4/30. If the Dad Vail regatta (Fri/Sat on May 12-13) were the conflict, it's unfortunate that Sunday wouldn't have served as an adequate regatta option, if women's sprints really wanted to stay at Camden.

Women's Eastern Sprints and the Ivy League Championships are two different races.

there, there...it's ok! They used to be, not too long ago, one and the same.
That said, this combination makes a TON of sense from a logistics and support perspective.

It should certainly improve the Ivy breeding stock.
