Head of the River Race 2018
Amazing race today with the official result being called a dead heat between Oxford Brookes and Leander. First time in the races history. Brookes managed to get 5 boats in the top 20 (1st,3rd,5th,11th & 20th).

You’ll have to wait a while - they’re eligible for the Ladies so that’s what they’ll enter.Stewie Griffin Should Cox wrote:Look forward to seeing Brooke’s in the Grand

haha, I'm sure the German mens 8 may have something to say about that. Lets wait and see how they get on against the Dutch when they race at the Windermere Cup.Stewie Griffin Should Cox wrote:Look forward to seeing Brooke’s in the Grand

No way would the powers-that-be let Leander be beaten by a college crew.

There was no W I said in the Grand, not Win the grand but if your top crew wins the ladies surely you have to gonfor the Grand? Win the Grand and they can take their place next to UL and imperial.rowingstrong wrote:haha, I'm sure the German mens 8 may have something to say about that. Bit late for that, they were in 2016.Long'n Strong wrote:No way would the powers-that-be let Leander be beaten by a college crew.

The crew that finished head is ineligible for the Ladies, surely?fatsculler wrote:You’ll have to wait a while - they’re eligible for the Ladies so that’s what they’ll enter.Stewie Griffin Should Cox wrote:Look forward to seeing Brooke’s in the Grand
Depends on how "No heavyweight F.I.S.A. Senior national crew may contend for this prize" is interpreted.

Only 1 of the Crew (matt Tarrant) is ineligible, the majority of the crew haven’t raced above U23 level. I would expect Brooke’s top boat this year to race in the Ladies Plate.Chris A wrote:The crew that finished head is ineligible for the Ladies, surely?fatsculler wrote:You’ll have to wait a while - they’re eligible for the Ladies so that’s what they’ll enter.Stewie Griffin Should Cox wrote:Look forward to seeing Brooke’s in the Grand

Bayer Leverkusen in the Ladies Plate last year had several athletes from the German team in 2016. I suppose they knew they were of that standard though... Having seen the depth of Brookes though, I imagine losing Tarrant back to GBR won’t be a massive loss.fatsculler wrote:Only 1 of the Crew (matt Tarrant) is ineligible, the majority of the crew haven’t raced above U23 level. Didn’t they win the Ladies in 2017?
Where is the progression if they do it again?

If I was in the crew I’d want to step up.

Totally disagree...and knowing Brookes they will want to go for the event they think they can win.Stewie Griffin Should Cox wrote:Rubbishfatsculler wrote:Progression is to defend the titleStewie Griffin Should Cox wrote:Didn’t they win the Ladies in 2017?
