Yeah, I’m not biting on that until I’ve seen some corroboration!

You think I lead off the 2024 Olympic thread without a good source? Shame

I find that kind of surprising. The 2x you have NED, IRL and maybe the US if you buy that they weren't fully healthy at worlds. (other boats obviously but I'd say those look like the main contenders) and they were "already" 2nd in that mix.

The 2- you have SUI, GB, IRL, ROU all at a really high standard. I'd imagine the US 2- would be more of a full time endeavor, not 2 guys who just finished school (even if it's the same 2 guys just having a full year of dedicated training.)

Maybe they just went "we for sure can't beat the Dutch in the 2x so may as well see what we can do in the 2-" This just seems like a markedly deeper 2- field than it was in Tokyo

Hey now, it’s more like 90 - 95 percent on my sources.

Back to the Sinkovic’s , why not the pair ?

I think your sources are f'ing with you, Wolf. Unless the CRO federation is pushing it, the SBros are done with the pair. They want to be able to walk upright in retirement.

The Sinkovici have enough sway to demand the 2x if they want. It was their decision to switch out of the 2- back into the 2x after Tokyo, and I haven't seen anything that indicates they've changed their minds.

Contrary to what many believe, I think the Sinkovic have a decent chance in the pair, possible even better than in the double. I think the odds are slim that they win the double again, and they know it. The Dutch and French have shown they can get very close to the Sinkovic's 2014 best, and the brothers have lost technical finesse this Olympiad. I don't think the pairs field has been quite to the same quality. However the Sinkovic clearly prefer sculling to sweep, so I am still doubtful they will make the switch.
